A few weeks ago I went thrifting and I spotted this little gem

I’ve been wanting a picnic basket fora while so I had to snatch this one up. The inside was in great condition and it came with wine glasses, a cheese cutting board, cheese knife, and wine bottle opener! The only problem was the outside. Look at that fruit on the top of the basket! ICK! I wasn’t wild about the color either so I knew I had to do a little cosmetic work. Here’s what I came up with

I painted the outside to match the inside. I gave it a top coat so the paint wouldn’t chip off and so it would have a shiny finish. When I popped off the ugly fruit, there was a bit of damage to the wicker so I wrapped a piece of cardboard cut to the shape of the top opening with the same material pattern as the inside to tie it all in. I added a little batting to make it a little cushy. Let it sit to dry and voila! You have yourself a new and improved picnic basket
. I can’t wait to pack it up and find a quiet little park to enjoy it (which will be difficult in Los Angeles, but I’m up for the challenge).

Super cute!!!! I wish you posted this last week because I hummed and hawed over a picnic basket much the same at the flea market last weekend, but couldn’t figure out a way to fix it up! ha!
