I started my 12 projects in 2012 list today.
I decided I would cross watercolor painting off my list since I inherited some watercolor paper from my grandfather. Here’s what I came up with.

I love the look of uneven watercolor and think if I practiced a bit I could accomplish the look I was going for in this lady painting, but I still prefer acrylic since I’ve been painting with oil and acrylic since I was 14.
Speaking of 14…you should see the first painting I ever did. It was fucking awful. At the time I had a thing for cherubs and other angel looking things, so I painted a couple of ugly cherubs.
Practice makes for a better artist FOR SURE. Though I was a decent illustrator (which is why my parents bought me an easel, some canvas and a Bob Ross “happy little” paint/brush set) I had no idea what I was doing when it came to paint. 16 years later and I feel like I’m leaps and bounds ahead of where I once was.

This is inspired by one of my favorite bands. It’s a line from their song “I Like to Party”. If you don’t already listen to Moufette you should check them out. They are fantastic. This line really stuck with me when I heard it because this is how I feel most of the time (especially at work).
